Known for her dark sorcery, the Carrion-Queen is also renowned for her history of tumultuous relationships with friend and foe alike. She is noted as being at least as possessive of her enemies as of her lovers (even when the two are not the same), and earned her title by raising an undead army from the fallen forces of a treasured opponent (who fell in a border skirmish with the People’s Combine),  which she then led to avenge him and complete his conquest.

''“AAooooOOW! The CHAIN DAWG is here to LAY DOWN the PAAAIIN! Ladies, Gentlemen, All critters and crawlers of the Outworld, put on your blood goggles, pull off your gloves, because this dog is packing more diesel than a Combine gunship tonight! Please wear the protection provided. Buy my cereal.”''

The youth who would become the celebrity cult-star Chain Dog was once known for his obsession with the bloodsports euphorista Sapphire Sinstar, whose style he imitated somewhat... Even to the point of copycat killings. Rather than become another of her statistics, the youth was tutored in the ''correct'' way to dismember people before being turned out on the world with his own unique style of chain-based murder, and is said to be seeking a protegé of his own.

His popularity has increased dramatically, and he styles himself as a mockery of the other realms. Like a powerful warlord of Valtaria, with the grease and grime of the Combine and the savage fighting style of the Walkers. But make no mistake - this man is Joy Effect through and through, always appealing to his audience, always seeking to sell his image in the most colourful way possible. That colour is usually red.

That's Rabbit.

Yeah, that Rabbit. The one who dropped one of the old tower blocks to trap a column of Combine soldiers, got them to chase him, ran them right into the lair of that gargantuan they call Two-Claw. The one who faced that Valtarian firebreather's legion with a cheeky grin and made them cautious enough that they didn't advance from above the tunnels he'd set to blow, then killed... I don't know how many down there in the darkness.

What, you thought he'd be more obvious than that? You been in the Combine getting oil in your ears? The thing none of them realised about Rabbit is that by the time he lets you see him, he's won – he just has more fun if he can hear the moment you realise that.

See it? Don't be a bloody idiot, you can't see someone's face if you're running away from someone as fast as your legs can carry you.

The Penitent Order

Created Characters

Zeta Causes Change

Player Chris Smith
Background The People's Combine
Faculty Adjutants
Culpability Guilty
Alignment Parchment
Affinity Keystone
Motives Devotion, Influence

Profile

“Every man builds his world in his own image. He has the power to choose, but no power to escape the necessity of choice.”

Zeta has always lived a life of shifting responsibilities. Originally a member of the Volunteer Corps, he rose to the position of Crew Relay, where he started to become more and more integrated into the People’s Combine as a whole. His originally ‘divergent’ opinions and beliefs soon found themselves aligning with the Liberation Corp’s message, to the point where he became a rising star and example of how personal choice can help bring the Combine together, regardless of disparate ideologies from youth.

As his skills as a relay and a visionary became more and more mature, he was soon picked out by the Sublime Concord. His enthusiastic approach to personal choice and his far-reaching ambitions helped him work to build up the world as foreseen by the Oracle.

As time went on and things fell apart, Zeta became more vocal about the choices that people made, and saw the devastation that was wrought as another aspect of this. But when the Sublime Concord chose to flee the consequences of their choice, knowing that their actions would remove the possibility of other people to make their own way forward in life, he made his own decision...

The People's Combine

Created Characters

Hegemonic Engineer Valve, of the Symphony Of Purpose

Player Mike Evans
Corps Revolutionary Corps
Profession Hegemonic Engineer
Affinity Keystone
Motives Influence

“Valve, formerly a Mister "Wells", has been found to have demonstrably facilitated the liberation of the city now designated New Liberty Commons. Using his position as a Resource Distribution Broker in the formerly dominant Margin Driver oligarchy, he covertly communicated invaluable data about the city's production and energy networks to LibCorp personnel, allowing the city's defensive infrastructure to be crippled with trivial application of force. Reports also indicate that Valve entered a meeting of his Board of Directors on the evening of the assault and shot each of them, an act he described to us as 'infinitely satisfying'.

Recommend recruitment to the RevCorps ASAP.”

The Valtarian Kingdoms

Created Characters

Carrion-Queen Vermilion, the Unrepentant

Player Hannah McKay
Status Monarch-In-Shadow
Past Companion
Affinity Tempest
Motives Challenge, Devotion

Profile

“I am the whetstone against which the blades of heroism are sharpened; the darkness that allows Virtue’s light to shine. Without me, what are you?”

Carrion-Queen Vermilion the Unrepentant rose from amongst the honour-guard of the Tyrant-Sorceror Carmine, Lord of Blood and Flame, to become his apprentice, adopted heir, and sometimes lover. As with her mentor before her, she has remained a near-constant thorn in the side of Valtaria’s heroes and scourge upon their people ever since.

The Visions of Opportunity

Created Characters

The Walkers

Created Characters

Molar

Player Chris Borgars-Smith
Path Red
Vocation Nomad
Affinity Edge
Motives Challenge, Gratification

Profile

We can see our brave accounts manager moving in... and he's stepping out of cover to deliver the policy to Molar now! Let me move in for a close-up!

“Alright, Molar! This building is Opportunity property! Direct your people to move into the asset reclamation vehicles or we will begin shooting!”

“Oh yeah? What right do you have to tell Walkers what to do?”

“Your labour is being seized against the damage caused to the building, as outlined in our insurance policy –”

Molar's smiling now. And she's – what's that? Darlings, this is a turnup for the books. Looks like our hooligan is some kind of Shaper!

“Insurance policy? I don't think so. Didn't anyone warn you that your insurance doesn't cover against acts of GODS?”

Wow! What a performance. Sloppy, but enthusiastic and plenty bloody – just the way we like it! Now let's get outta here before this brunette bombshell turns her pretty hea–
